Why Our Topic Was Chosen

The title of our project is “The Iran Hostage Crisis”. We chose this topic for a couple reasons actually, one, because we were interested in what caused the hostages to be taken in the first place and what we Americans, had done to try and make the Crisis end in a civilized manner. Through studying our topic, I have learned that patience is the key to survival and to never give up no matter what and to stand up for your friends and never lose hope, no matter how risky conditions are and to stay calm. Similar to what the U.S did to end the Crisis and save the hostages.

Our Research

While starting our research, we first went to Wikipedia to start our research, we found reliable sources from Wikipedia, but did not use any information read from there. After getting the midst of the hostage situation, we searched all through the history channel’s online website for any actual footage from the Iran Hostage Crisis, and actually found live footage during that time period from Iran itself. We also found background knowledge of the crisis and we kept a journal which organized our information into different sections, which we used as each different web page. The most reliable resource that was found on the history channels online website was a primary source collection from the Associated Press that featured events from the Iran Hostage Crisis and facts about each sides point of view. One more source that we had found was a Hostage Release Document that told the stories of the hostages and how they felt about the whole situation. From the videos that we had found, we could not post them on our web site unfortunately, only because of the restrictions on the time length of the videos that are allowed on the page itself, but we have posted links that lead to the videos that were found.

How And Why We Created Our Web Page

During the time we spent figuring out what type of project to construct, we decided to make a web page design. We created a web page because we thought that it would give us the widest range of variety because we could use all of the different ways that we’ve learned to express our data. We could post actual footage of the Iran Hostage Crisis, explain the reasoning behind Iran and the U.S. for why they captured and took our citizens hostage, and how the Americans chose to deal with the situation. We also could use photos that we found from eligible sites and use them on our web page to show the harsh realities of the Crisis. Finally, we created our web page so that we could give our readers a different feel for what they already knew about the Crisis, and it gives the readers a guide of what we have to offer on our titles of each different page that we’ve created.
